The incident of brawl between Rajasthan BJP lawmaker Chandrakanta Meghwal and officers of a local police station in Koata is boiling as several Dalit organisations have come out in support of the leader. These organisations alleged that MLA Meghwal is paying a price for being a Dalit and pro-people approach.
Pledging their support to Meghwal, leaders of Dalit organisations said that it’s an irony that despite being a member of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) she is facing harassment at the hands of biased and corrupt police officers.
These leaders further said that it seems the ruling party considers Ms Meghwal not as its own member but a daughter of Meghwal community only. It can be easily assumed that what will happen to common man if a lawmaker is subjected to such insult and harassment.
Several organisations including Scheduled Castes and Tribes Ambedkar Welfare Society Students’ wing, Women’s wing,Bhim Sena, Megh Sena, Meena Sena, Bhim Yuva Shakti Sangathan, Meghwal Yuva Sangathan, Meghwanshi Yuva Sangathan, Ambedkar Vichar Manch, Megh Mitra Mandal, Samata Sainik Dal and Dalit Sena have decided to take out a march against the alleged highhandedness of the administration.
It can be noted here that a brawl broke out between Chandrakanta Meghwal and local police officers over a challan or traffic ticket to a BJP worker. Four policemen have been transferred after the brawl.
The lawmaker said her husband and other workers were attacked and detained by the police. “No police station should have such cops. They attacked us and many of the workers are in the hospital,” she told reporters.
She alleged that in the fight, her sari was torn and her bangles broken.
